Apple is an American multinational company dedicated to the production, design and sales of electronic equipment and software. Apple was born in 1976, when Mike Markkula acceded to invest in Apple. Before that, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak (the creator of the first Apple) had been selling computers built by themselves.
The first Apple computers were a success and soon Jobs and Wozniak started to improve their features. Nowadays, Apple counts with products as famous as the iPod media player, the iPhone smartphone and the iPad tablet computer. It is also the creator of the Mac computers and the iOS and the Mac OS X operating systems. Besides, Apple has their own browsers, like the Safari web browser and the iTunes web browser.
Apple headquarter's are located in Cupertino, California but it also has a small headquarter in Dublin, Ireland. The company counts with around 400 stores throughout nine countries. In addition, there are thousands of distributors that sell the Apple products and an online store. Apple has more than 72.000 employees, its current chairman is Arthur D. Levinson and its Chief Executive Officer is Tim Cook.
