Barclays is a financial services enterprise set in London, Great Britain, although it is present in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, the United States of America, Latin America and Middle East. The company works through its subsidiary Barclays Bank.
The bank was founded in London around 1960. Nevertheless, the entity wasn’t associated with the name ‘Barclays’ until 1736, when James Barclay, one of the founder’s son-in-law, became an associate of the company.
Barclays Bank has around 48 million customers in more than 50 countries around the world. The operations that the company offers are retail, wholesale and investment banking. Furthermore, Barclays Bank has sponsored the Premier League since 2001.
