Orange is a telecommunications company known until 2013 as France Telecom. France Telecom was born in 1998. Before, this company was in the hands of the French Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and it was named Direction Générale des Télécommunications.
In 2000 the British company Orange, launched in 1993, was purchased by the French France Telecom. The French company adopted the Orange brand for its mobile phone activities but they continued using France Telecom for landlines.
Orange offers mobile phone, landline, internet and television services over the world. In 2011 the company had more than 220 million clients. Besides, it has around 170.000 workers.
The current chairman of Orange is Stéphane Richard and the company's head office is in Paris, France.
